Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted, one moment
Would you capture it?
Or just let it slip

Day 30: Survive & Advance

It's 5:43 a.m. and on the way to 121st club.  I called the club just to reconfirm that Alemeo would be the trainer.  He actually answered the phone, so I knew it was gonna be a good day.  He sounded taken back when I asked who the trainer would be this morning.  His reply, "That's me today, Alemeo."  Alrighty, next task was to finish off the Luna bar since I have to consume some sort of energy before I take on the bag.

Alemeo did a great job at warming up and I was very thankful.  Then, we started out with running, side shuffles, bear crawls, and leap frog jumps.  Once we started on the bag, we got in some good punches while taking breaks with running and Tetris Centipede drills.  This is done by starting in a plank position with your forearms on the mat and move arms up to a push-up position.  Next, comes the fun part of walking your hands back to meet your feet while pushing your body up like a Centipede.  Then, you repeat by going down to the plank again.  It doesn't sound too difficult unless your arms are already toast.

Another fun thing was facing a partner in the push-up position.  Then, as you come up for the push-up, you would exchange a cross punch while meeting your partner's glove.  Alemeo knew this would push you to a mental place to overcome the physical exhaustion.  He said, "Don't look at that clock...It's not going to save you!"

How could you not be happy @ 6a??
By the end of the workout, I'm not sure how I kept moving.  We were running and doing side shuffles while holding a med ball above our heads.  My arms and legs were fading.  My brain was trying to stay one step ahead of my body.  It made me dig deep and thought about the reminder I have above my computer at work.  I acquired it when I was logging lots of running miles and still gives me motivation.  I look at it everyday.

"Now if you are going to win any battle,
you have to do one thing.
You have to make the mind run the body.
Never let the body tell the mind what to do.
The body will always give up.
It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night.
But, the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
