Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted, one moment
Would you capture it?
Or just let it slip

Day 11: Rock My World

Jesse James Dupree!

I rolled out a bed AT 5:30a today to head to the 87th club.  I only hit snooze 3 times!  Jumped into my gear and out the door at 5:41.  I was feeling extremely rushed as I knew it would take me about 15 minutes to get to the club. Today's music choice on the way was.."I Stand Alone" by Jackyl.  Talk to me Jesse James Dupree!  My body exhausted, Hammie still not 100%, and was definitely flying solo into uncharted territory.

The first thing I saw at the club was Don's smiling face.  I introduced myself to him last night and told him about my ambitious goal.  I had to recruit someone to take my pic with Marcus.  Also, my new boxing acquaintance, JJ(Gerb), told me he was definitely one I should connect with.
Don...my emcee for the day!

As class was getting ready to start, I hear over the loud speaker, “Go ahead and get running around the bags.”  It was like an announcer at the skatin' rink back in the day.  The rap music was pumpin and he was giving us direction through the mic.  How cool was that?!  I didn’t need to physically see him to know what to do.  As the warm-up continued, I was just in awe with the overhead voice.  I especially loved it when he would sing for us too!  It really set the mood to start ripping into a bag..

After the 2nd round of punching, Don approached me to ask who I had been working with.  I replied, “Bigg Ron, Jeron, and basically all the peeps at The 7-6.”  His response, “I can tell!”  I think my punches got even more powerful at that point as I was flying high.  It was just me and the bag with total focus to every step and punch.  I am so incredibly thankful to the talented trainers at The 7-6 for giving me just a great foundation.  I’m not at Sylvester Stallone level yet, but working hard everyday.  Maybe one day I will hear the “Rocky” theme playing.

Don’s workout definitely challenged me today.  It was a new perspective, new challenges, and things I see that I need to work on.  I felt the workout was more productive due to hearing overhead what punches to throw.  I could hear the 1-2-3 combo commands and start going to town.

My music choice for the ride home…ACDC, “ You shook me all night long.”  When the van is a rockin…well, it’s probably some crazy chic in a grocery getter screaming lyrics and playing air drums!  Don, thanks for rocking my world and changing my music mood today:)

I’m totally pumped for tomorrow 6a to box with my friends - Linda, Andrea, & Jamie.  We will be on the scene at 87th ready to get the party started!
