Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted, one moment
Would you capture it?
Or just let it slip

Day 16: Another Animal

Getting out of bed today was like hitting mile 18 of a 26.2 marathon race!  It's when you hit a wall and not sure if you can continue, but have come too far to quit now.  It's that HOLY CRAP moment when your mind starts to wonder and your body is telling you to shut it down.  Even with all the careful planning and pacing, you get to a point that you've never been before.  I took a shower today not for cleanliness or to wake up or to wash my hair to get it to cooperate....but just to let the water ease my muscles.  Needless to say, it's not a good hair day.  I'm hoping stretching, protein, and Gatorade will be enough to bring me back to life and get my 2nd wind for tonight's workout!

Last night, I attended Ryan Estep's class @ 119th & Metcalf.  As I entered, I was excited to see JR again.  He was the guy @ the 87th Lenexa location that was getting us pumped up with his dancing skills at 5:45 a.m.  I was bummed because I couldn't locate him on FB to let him know I mentioned him in my blog.  He had given me his real name, but wasn't sure if I was misspelling it and searching by JR wasn't really cutting it.  So, hopefully we can connect on FB, so he sees his shout outs:)

I remember seeing Ryan's pic online and thinking, Yikes...he looks like he could kick my butt.  Well, my assumption was definitely right!  His routine included lots of things I had never done or even attempted before.  I think my body knows this, as my muscles are begging for forgiveness!

Ryan had a real strength for showing us the correct technique to ensure every punch had meaning.  You can tell he has a real passion for helping others improve their health and take their fitness to the next level.  His music selection kept me going for sure, as it was on the heavier side!

Ryan's daughter also attended the class.  She was very attentive to follow his direction and watched his every move.  It was so adorable to watch!  It's a cool, cool thing to see kids involved at Title.  It teaches them so much and if they find that it's fun, we might get them hooked for life :)  Our kids love to get the opportunity to go punch the bag and even have their favorite trainer moments they talk about.

This is Ryan..and I'm still standing!
After class, Ryan was very approachable.  I even heard him talking to another member about not getting discouraged if not seeing a huge weight loss.  He went on to say you are getting stronger each time, building muscles, and you will start noticing the results!

I was impressed by Ryan's heavy music choices.  I knew listening to Another Animal* would satisfy my craving for more on the way home!
*Basically the guys from Godsmack minus Lead Singer, Sully + Whitfield Crane (Lead Singer from Ugly Kid Joe).  They formed a side project and only produced 1 album.  We can only hope that one day, they will connect again!  I did have the pleasure of getting to see their show on their brief tour.  Shannon Larkin is one of my fave drummers!

Ryan - You are Another Animal because there is nobody like you!  You had a unique way of kicking my butt!  Keep up the passion for helping us all:)
