Today, I called the 87th Lenexa location before heading over to the club to confirm the trainer. They told me Andrew would not be the trainer tonight and there would be a sub. I anxiously said, "Can you tell me who it is?" I just wanted to ensure that it wouldn't be a duplicate of trainers I've already hit. So, when they let me know that it would be Marcus from Lee's Summit, I was relieved to move forward with the plan.
A couple of minutes before class started, Marcus came around to say hey to everyone and let us know we would start shortly. From the looks of him, I was sure we were going to get our booties kicked. We stretched for a few minutes, then it was on to running. Next, we went directly into working with the medicine balls while running around the exterior and some floor work. I thought it would be great to get some of the hard work out of the way. Then, to realize that was just his warm-up...

| Marcus kickin it @ 87th Lenexa |
Marcus incorporated some really great punch/kick combos. I was nervous about the Hammie muscle, but seemed to help to have it stretched out with some kicks. I couldn't help but notice a guy next to me that was around 20 years old. He was kicking some serious butt on the bag. He was lucky enough to get blessed with a short stature, just like myself. Unfortunately, being short in height gives you no extra space to hide extra pounds. He was really inspiring me to see how he was trying to take control of his health and shed the extra pounds. It is such a cool thing to see all the different body types and ages that attend class. We are all there sharing an hour together, with one common goal.
I have to say Marcus did the best job of any trainer I've had with post workout stretching. We did several stretches that included a deep dive into my Hammie muscles. It felt so awesome after such an intense workout! I think that it such a great benefit, as sometimes you are just ready to go home and don't always treat your muscles right.
After class, I got to chat with my workout neighbor, JJ (most call him Jerb he informed me.) We talked about The 7-6 club and he mentioned that he liked to train with Bigg Ron. I told him about my goal and he looked at me in disbelief, like most do that think I'm crazy:) As we parted ways, I told him to
keep on keepin on! I walked away feeling even more pumped up that our paths had crossed. I just never know where I will draw my motivation from to continue on with this journey.

| Grandma - You are a true inspiration! |
I received some concerning news today about my 88 years young Grandma. She had to be taken to the hospital today after taking a fall while at the walking track. Fortunately, she just ended up with some stitches near her eye and all other tests turned out with a thumbs up. She religiously goes every other day to get her mile logged. She is quite the lady, as she still lives independently and bakes cookies weekly to share with people in her community. It's definitely her trademark! When I called to check on her, she was in great spirits. I asked if she planned to go back to the track. Her reply was, "Well, yes. The doctor said to take a few days off, but I'll be ready to get back to it." She has an absolutely incredible drive to just
keep movin! Maybe that is what keeps her young??
