Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted, one moment
Would you capture it?
Or just let it slip

Day 20: 1/2 Way There!

My Fave Pic made into my St. Pat's Pin!
Roman with Bret Michaels from Poison!!
I woke up today and looked out my deck door to see the sun shining.  It was a surreal moment when I felt so fortunate to have my health.  I also thought about what Roman, my brother-in-law, was doing today.  It is his birthday today!  St. Pat's day is such a fun birthday to celebrate.  He would have been 41 today, had cancer not taken him to Heaven 2 years ago.  We both shared such a passion for music and would always talk about different bands or songs we liked.  Our ritual on St. Pat's was going to see Baloney Ponzy in Westport...4:00p sharp every year and DON'T be late.  We would hang out listening to our 80s Hair band tunes, drink a few (or many) beers and celebrate another year.  Definitely something I looked forward to EVERY year!  He is deeply missed today!

My friend, Erica decided to be very brave today.  She decided to attend her first ever Title class today, despite what see had heard about how hard core Mary was going to be.  She was a trooper!  But, I knew she would do great!  She is also a runner and is the ONLY person I've found that I can run with.  We run at the same pace, which we realized at the Warrior Dash.  So, then we decided to do the Cerner 15K (yes 9.3 miles) together last year and were a perfect match.  I'm usually the Lone Wolf when it comes to my runs because it's too stressful to try to match someone else's pace.

Before class, I noticed that Matt from the desk informed Mary about the new people in the class.  I thought this was really cool so she would know if some needed extra encouragement or training.  I also ran into Jessie, trainer at 148th & Metcalf, and her friend.  They both said they enjoyed reading my blog...goosebumps and much thanks guys!

I noticed Mary address Erica at one point to help correct her form.  Also, Mary told Erica that her kickboxing was the absolute hardest thing.  Sorry Erica, I haven't kept track of whether my schedule was Box or Kick and know you have a 12 mile training run tomorrow morning - Oops:(  Now your legs will just be warmed up??

Thank you both for an incredible start to the day!
Mary was totally awesome today!  She was direct and had a no BS attitude, but was sure to give plenty of encouragement.  I liked it when she took the time to explain why we were doing something and what effect it would have on our body.  Her workout was non-stop and the mix was just enough challenge.  My fave Mary quote was when she was telling us to hurry and switch to the next thing..."It's not going to be a Hallmark invitation or text message!!"  Erica and I looked at each other and just cracked up!  One, it was just too funny and two...we both work for the famous card factory:)

Her tunes covered a wide variety, which I personally think is the way to go...From ZZ Top (Sharp Dressed Man) to Gangster's Paradise to LMFAO (I'm Sexy) to Brick House...Surely a song to pump anyone up who was attending the class, from young to maybe a bit older :)

I purposely choose Mary to be my 1/2 way point on this journey.  I knew it would be an emotional as well as a monumental day.  I'm looking forward to the 2nd half and continuing to be thankful each day.
