Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted, one moment
Would you capture it?
Or just let it slip

Day 15: Ain't Nothin' Gonna Break My Stride...

Nobody's gonna slow me down, oh no oh no
I got to keep on movin'
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground oh no oh no,
I got to keep on movin'
~ Matthew Wilder

This was my anthem back in the day while riding my bike to the skatin' rink.  I would get myself pumped up to hit the rink to be able to skate super, super fast.  I had speed, agility and one killer hairstyle!

Sometimes due to work and managing everything else in life, workouts can get pushed to the test. For Hubby & I, we make workouts a priority while having to stagger our schedules.  The benefits are not only physical, but mental as well.  For us, it makes all the everyday challenges a little easier to take on....So, regardless of work hours and other obstacles, we got to keep on movin'.

On Monday, I picked up my friend, Andrea, to go check out Jessie's Power Hour @ 148th & Metcalf.  As soon as we walked through the door, James, General Manager, recognized me from last week when I attended Jon's class.  He introduced me to Jessie and told her about my 40 trainers in 40 days goal.  She asked how I got the idea to do this?  I told her I just came up with the challenge for myself to see if I could do it while counting down the days to turning 40.

As Andrea & I picked out our bags, I noticed Kevin from The 7-6 was attending the class also.  He decided to come to Jessie's class to add additional variety to his workout routine...and give us some extra motivation :)

Jessie's class was high energy and she never let us stop.  We ran between all the rounds and then would immediately go back into full action with punch combos, push ups, jump squats, and the ever loving burpies.  Jessie did an awesome job of showing modifications that could be used.  This is such a cool thing because it encourages every fitness level.  I realize the classes are designed to be challenging, but sometimes it's good to know the trainer is with you every step of the way.

One of the coolest things we did was what I referred to as "musical bags."  We partnered up while both of us punching and going to town on the same bag.  Then, when she would say "switch", we would have to run to another bag to team up with a different partner.  If we didn't make it in time, then you had to drop and do push-ups until the switch was made again.

I loved Jessie's intensity, encouragement and focus to make sure everyone was motivated regardless of fitness level.  As Andrea & I drove home and were recapping everything, we both agreed that we worked our butts off!  Andrea said she even felt lighter when walking out!!  It was so refreshing to hear her say the class was FUN!  Andrea has made the commitment to go on Mon, Wed, & Fris.  I'm so proud of her for jumping back in the ring!  Ain't Nothin' Gonna Break HER stride!
